Italian Men Fashion Information

12 Dec

Italian fashion has risen in popularity since as far back as the Renaissance era, in the 11th century. This is the same time that Italian art was up and coming, with talented artists such as Leonardo da Vinci, who created some of the most beloved masterpieces. Even fashion for Italian men had a large influence on the people of this time period. At this time, the merchants were very rich, and could spend a lot of money on expensive and fashionable clothing. Dressing fashionably allowed them to show off their power and status to the rest of society, much in the same way that the rich business man does today.

During this time period, much of the expensive clothing was made from brocades or velvets, or other such luxurious fabrics. The clothing was mainly wide and short, with long robes that were decorated with ribbons and jewelry. Hats were made fashionable as well, with different shapes and matching the outfits. Italian fashion briefly took a backseat to Gothic era fashion, for roughly a century.

After World War II ended, Italy began to export their leather goods and fashionable clothing again. The trends were reborn, and Italy was back on top as the global trendsetter. In February of 1951, there was a revival show featuring Italian fashions, and audiences paid attention. The names of Capucci, Valentino, and Armani became household names around the world.

Through the 1970s, Italian fashion was only attainable by the wealthy and the famous. But, eventually, Italian designers turned their focus to designs for the average person. In the 1980s, suddenly everyone knew where Milan was, and had their eyes on that city for the latest trends. Fashion like mini skirts and blue jeans became popular and trendy, with prices almost anyone could afford. Today, Italian fashion is widely known for leather shoes and men’s suits, but still items that are fashionable yet practical and affordable.
