The eyes are focal points in a woman’s face. They seduce and enchant without making a sound. Since early civilization, women have known the power of beautiful alluring eyes, and eyelashes.
Here is an interesting fact: beautiful eyes are not uniformly alike. Some are almond-shaped, while others are long and slanted. Songs have been written about beautiful blue eyes, and beautiful brown ones. But when it comes to beautiful eyelashes, the standard is the same across all cultures: they are long, thick, lustrous and curled. If you want to achieve standout eyelashes, choose from among the following procedures:
- Mascara. An easy way to thicken and elongate your lashes is by applying at least two coats of mascara with gentle, sweeping motions. Today’s new formulations are very effective in adding volume and length to even the skimpiest lashes. They also have improved staying power. No clump and waterproof mascaras pretty much deliver on their promise. While brown and black are standard colors, you can push the glam factor even further by using colored ones such as electric blue, silver and purple.
- Eyelash curler. Another old-school method of making your lashes more noticeable. Your mom probably had a cumbersome metal contraption on top of her dresser. The latest trend in eyelash curlers is the heated type. Powered by batteries, the heated eyelash curler makes more prominent curls that stay curled the whole day.
- Eyelash perming. If you really want curled eyelashes that stay put 24-7, then perming it is your best option. Eyelash perming is relatively inexpensive and takes about an hour and a half in a day spa. The perm will usually last for about four to six weeks.
- Eyelash extensions. While false eyelashes that look like weird spiders are still in use, they have been mostly replaced by eyelash extensions. Unlike falsies that you paste whole on top of your existing lashes, extensions consist of individual synthetic lash strands that are glued separately. The result is a more natural effect. Extensions stay in place for about four to six weeks, provided you refrain from picking at them or rubbing your eyes. While it is natural for the lashes to fall out eventually, most salons offer a free touch-up two weeks after the extensions have been initially placed to replace any that have fallen out prematurely.
Eyelashes really do open your eyes up and make you look more alive. Women should not neglect their eyelashes, because for such small things, they have such an impact.
